Text: Proverbs 3:12-26

Dear Parents,

CLOSE ASSOCIATES OF WISDOM
Wisdom is well described in this text we read. Two words are closely associated with “wisdom”. The words are “understanding” and “knowledge”. Wisdom may sound very abstract, but “knowledge” and “understanding” are very measurable things. Let us put into the hands of our children every means available to obtain knowledge and understanding, and hopefully, wisdom will result.

EVERY ENCOURAGEMENT TO PURSUE WISDOM
Once again, we have another list of blessings that attend wisdom. This was the writer’s way of giving every encouragement to pursue wisdom. Children need all the encouragement they can get to pursue wisdom, understanding and knowledge.

1. “Life to the soul” (Proverbs 3:22)

2. “Grace to the neck” (Proverbs 3:22)

3. “Walk Safely” (Proverbs 3:23)

4. “You will not be afraid” (Proverbs 3:24,25)

5. “Sleep will be sweet” (Proverbs 3:24)

6. “Confidence” Proverbs 3:26)

IT WILL BE WORTH IT ALL
How will these blessings come about? Obviously, the Lord is involved. His hand of involvement is quietly introduced in this statement.

The Lord will be your confidence.

Proverbs 3:26

When we pursue wisdom, the Lord is pleased with us. If our hearts desire understanding and knowledge, He blesses not only our efforts to obtain them, but He also blesses with obvious results.

The more understanding and knowledge we have, the more confident we become as we face life. When there is that confidence, we find that nothing troubles us. We would not need to lose even one night’s sleep. There is no fear in the heart whatsoever. There is much strength within. The results of the Lord being our confidence are obvious to others. Wisdom does not lead to arrogance. True wisdom brings life to the soul. Graciousness would be evidenced in our life!

The path to obtain wisdom may seem very difficult. Children prefer to play rather than pursue understanding and knowledge. Play must be allowed, for that is how children grow up well. While time is allowed for fun and recreation, time must also be set aside to pursue wisdom, understanding and knowledge. Let us keep working diligently in our commitment to bring up wise and understanding children.
