Dear Parents,
THE THEME OF “THE TONGUE”
The theme of the use of the tongue is dwelt upon in Proverbs 15. Let us make a list of the verses where the word “tongue”, “word” or “lips” are mentioned.
A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger.Proverbs 15:1
The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly,
But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.Proverbs 15:2
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.Proverbs 15:4
The lips of the wise disperse knowledge,
But the heart of the fool does not do so.Proverbs 15:7
The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge,
But the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.Proverbs 15:14
A man has joy by the answer of his mouth,
And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!Proverbs 15:23
The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD,
But the words of the pure are pleasant.Proverbs 15:26
The heart of the righteous studies how to answer,
But the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.Proverbs 15:28
CHALLENGED TO GUIDE OUR CHILDREN ON THE USE OF THE TONGUE
Obviously, there is a proper and improper use of the tongue. Let us be challenged to guide our children so that they would use the tongue wisely and well.
