Text: Proverbs 16

Dear Parents,

AN ALERT CONCERNING THE WICKED
We have an alert concerning the wicked in the following text. We do well to take heed of the fact that wickedness exists and is deadly in every sense of the word.

An ungodly man digs up evil,
And it is on his lips like a burning fire.
A perverse man sows strife,
And a whisperer separates the best of friends.
A violent man entices his neighbour,
And leads him in a way that is not good.
He winks his eye to devise perverse things;
He purses his lips and brings about evil.

Proverbs 16:27-30

REASONS FOR RAISING THE RED FLAG
The dangers posed by these wicked people must be recognized and noted! To fail to recognize these people would be dangerous!

1. The ungodly man

This man trifles with evil. He digs up all the dirt he can and then uses it to harm people!

2. The perverse man

He sows strife. He will think nothing of destroying friendships! He does his deadly work by whispering innuendos against people.

3. The violent man

He will entice people and then cause them to get into trouble. He seems to delight in doing evil!

CHILDREN NEED TO BE TAUGHT DISCERNMENT
Children are both innocent and gullible. We need to teach them how to be discerning for two special reasons.

1. To prevent hurt

Hurt from the wicked must be prevented where possible!

2. To prevent corruption

What is even worse is that children can be corrupted along the way!
