Text: Proverbs 21
21 May 2006

Dear Parents,

THE MANY FACES OF WICKEDNESS
It is vital that we appreciate that wickedness has many faces. Proverbs 21 makes a list of the expressions of wickedness (most of which are self-explanatory).

1. A haughty look – Proverbs 21:4, 24

2. A proud heart – Proverbs 21:4, 24

3. Getting treasures by a lying tongue – Proverbs 21:6

4. Employing violence – Proverbs 21:7

5. Perversity – Proverbs 21:8

6. Desiring evil – Proverbs 21:10

7. Coveting greedily – Proverbs 21:26

8. Wicked intentions – Proverbs 21:27

9. Bearing false witness – Proverbs 21:28

10. Hardening of the face (heart) – Proverbs 21:29

GUIDING OUR CHILDREN TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE PATHS OF WICKEDNESS
As we look at these expressions of wickedness, we must determine with all our hearts to steer our children from walking in these paths. What are some of the things we can do?

1. We help them to find joy in doing justice – Proverbs 21:15

2. We teach them to love wisdom – Proverbs 21:20

3. We encourage them to follow after righteousness – Proverbs 21:21

4. We emphasise trust in God’s blessings on the righteous – Proverbs 21:21 (They will find life and honour.)

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
