Text: Proverbs 25
10 December 2006

Dear Parents,

QUALITIES WE WANT OUR CHILDREN TO POSSESS
What are some great qualities we want our children to possess in their life? Let us consider the outstanding quality of “faithfulness”. The following text highlights this quality.

Like the cold of snow in time of harvest
Is a faithful messenger to those who send him,
For he refreshes the soul of his masters.

Proverbs 25:13

What does this text mean? Let us consider the following thoughts.

1. Harvest time

How do we understand the reference to “harvest”?

a) It is usually a hot season with the sun shining brightly.

b) It is a time when a lot of hard work must be put in.

2. The cold of snow

a) This is not a reference to a snow storm (that would be disastrous).

b) This is a reference to water cooled by snow (ice cold water).

c) This would be so refreshing during harvest time.

3. “A faithful messenger”

a) This is rarer than many imagine.

b) Faithfulness in a messenger is a quality to be truly appreciated.

4. Refreshing the soul of masters

a) Masters know that good help is hard to come by.

b) To have a trustworthy and faithful servant is like the rare snow in harvest time.

A CHALLENGE TO TEACH OUR CHILDREN “FAITHFULNESS”
This is one challenge we must take most seriously! A person with a truly faithful spirit is truly a rare individual!

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
