Text: Proverbs 26
6 May 2007

Dear Parents,

REAPING AND SOWING
The principle of reaping what we sow applies consistently. If a person insists and persists in walking in folly, his fate would be sealed!

THE FATE OF THE FOOL
What is the fate of the person who persists in staying in the state of folly? Let us ponder this sobering text.

The great God who formed everything
Gives the fool his hire and the transgressors his wages.

Proverbs 26:10

1. Reference to God

a) The Lord Himself is now brought into the picture.

b) He is described as “The Great God who formed everything”.

c) He is to be held with highest honour and regard as He gives His judgment on the matter of the fool who persists in walking in foolishness.

d) God will give the fool “his wages”.

2. The fate of the fool was predicted

a) Recall Proverbs 1:24-33.

b) God warned about the consequences of rejecting wisdom.

c) A specific text is applicable:-

Therefore they shall eat the fruits of their own way,
And be filled to the full with their own fancies.
For the turning away of the simple will slay them,
And the complacency of fools will destroy them.

Proverbs 1:31-32

d) The fate of the fool is now sealed by his own hand.

e) God merely pronounces the judgment.

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
