Dear Parents,
AN ANCIENT BUT GOOD PRINCIPLE
The Proverbs represent ancient principles. Old does not mean “obsolete”. Many ancient principles are gems of wisdom.
Whoever keeps a fig tree will eat its fruit;
So he who waits on his master will be honoured.Proverbs 27:18
KEEPING OF THE FIG TREE
What does this expression mean?
1. A good fig tree must be carefully tended
2. Kind of tending needed:
a) Carefulness
b) Faithfulness
c) Understanding of the fig tree and its features
FRUIT OF LABOUR
If a fig tree is well looked after, it will yield its fruits to the person tending it.
1. Good fruit may be expected.
2. Long-term fruit bearing may also be expected!
APPLICATION OF THIS PRINCIPLE
The application of this principle is as follows:-
1. A servant must look after his master well.
2. He must display the following features:-
a) Carefulness
b) Faithfulness
c) Understanding
If he does the above, he will reap good fruit! He will be honoured in due time.
