Dear Parents,
THE LAW OF GOD
God in His great wisdom and grace gave to ancient Israel His law. The following were some of the reasons why God gave His law! Three reasons may be highlighted:-
1. To guide His people
2. To govern His people
3. To give nobility to His people
TWO WAYS PEOPLE CAN RESPOND TO GOD’S LAW
There would always be two basic ways in which people can regard God’s laws.
Those who forsake the law praise the wicked,
But such as keep the law contend with them.Proverbs 28:4
1. Those who forsake the law of God
There would always be people who will reject and forsake God’s laws!
a) They do not like the restrictions placed on them by God’s laws.
b) They prefer their own ideas.
c) Ultimately the forsaking of God’s laws lead a person to support wickedness!
2. Those who keep the law of God
Thank God that there are those who love the law of God!
a) They are grateful that God has given His laws to mankind.
b) They know that there are no better laws a man could come up with.
c) They will contend with those who are law breakers!
TEACHING OUR CHILDREN TO HAVE A HIGH REGARD FOR GOD’S LAW
It is good and wise to teach our children to have a high regard for the Word of God! The higher the regard our children have for the laws of God, the more they will be blessed! Let us do our utmost to inculcate within their hearts the highest regard for the laws of God! Then will they be able to combat wickedness more effectively!
