Text: Proverbs 28
20 January 2008

Dear Parents,

THE DANGER OF GOING ASTRAY
The danger of going astray is very real! There are so many ways by which a person may fall away from faith in God. How we must guard our children so that they will not fall away easily.

WARNING TO THOSE WHO LEAD OTHERS ASTRAY
The following text warns those who are guilty of leading others astray.

Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way,
He himself will fall into his own pit;
But the blameless will inherit good.

Proverbs 28:10

1. “Whoever”

a) False teachers

b) False prophets

c) False friends

2. “Causes the upright to go astray in an evil way”

a) Through deception

b) Through allurement of riches

3. “He himself will fall into his own pit”

a) Ultimately those who go astray will fall into a pit.

b) Those who lead others astray will suffer the same fate – they will fall into the pit they dig for others!

A SPECIAL WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO THE BLAMELESS
There is a tender word of encouragement to the blameless.

1. The blameless are those who do not lead people astray.

2. They will obtain a special inheritance.

3. They will inherit “good” (both spiritual and physical good things).

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
