Text: Proverbs 30
16 November 2008

Dear Parents,

ANOTHER OBSERVATION OF THE NEXT GENERATION
We have another very sober observation about the “next generation”.

There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes;
Yet is not washed from its filthiness.

Proverbs 30:12

1. “A generation that is pure in its own eyes”

a) The old generation may have believed in “absolutes”.

b) The new generation may believe that there is nothing absolute.

c) They substitute absolutes and argue that everything is “relative”.

d) This being the case, they can end up concluding that they are “pure”.

i) There is denial of the concept of sin.

ii) There is rejection of the idea of sin.

iii) The new generation dismisses the old virtues as “old-fashioned”.

iv) New morality enables people to believe that they are “pure”.

2. The solemn reality

a) The Scriptures are used as the standard.

b) No one is pure in God’s eyes.

c) The human being (in any and every generation) is guilty of sin.

d) The generation that declares itself “pure” may well be unwashed from the filth of sin.

A CHALLENGE TO INCULCATE BIBLLICAL VIRTUES
The present generation is warned that the next generation may indeed feel that it is “pure”. Let us be deeply challenged to impart to our children good and solid Biblical core values!

The danger of self-righteousness is very real! This danger must not be ignored but instead be addressed adequately!

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
