Text: Proverbs 30
30 November 2008

Dear Parents,

THE LAST OF THE SERIES OF STATEMENTS ABOUT THE NEXT GENERATION
The last statement sounds even worse than the previous three! Let us ponder the solemn word of warning found in this text!

There is a generation whose teeth are like swords,
And whose fangs are like knives,
To devour the poor from out of the earth,
And the needy from among men.

Proverbs 30:14

1. Teeth like swords… fangs like knives

a) The above phrases describe wild and fierce animals.

b) People can become like animals in ferocity.

2. Devouring of the poor and needy

a) People can become like predators.

b) Like predators and worse

i) There is no mercy for the prey.

ii) Human predators seem far worse than those found in the animal kingdom.

iii) Animal predators kill only because they are hungry.

iv) Human predators destroy… even though they do not need to do so.

v) Even the poor and needy are not spared.

HOW WILL THE NEXT GENERATION TURN OUT?
We cannot but be alarmed that the dangers highlighted in these texts (Proverbs 30:11-14) are very real! How the next generation will turn out depends on how we bring up our children! There are at least two important things we can do for our children!

1. Let us pray for our children faithfully

2. Let us seek to impart good Biblical core values to them!

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
