CHRIST IS RISEN FROM THE DEAD!
Text: 1 Corinthians 15

A CARDINAL DOCTRINE
The resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead is a cardinal doctrine. The apostle Paul defended the significance of this doctrine in 1 Corinthians 15. Two things may be highlighted:-
- A Biblical prophetic teachingFour aspects may be highlighted:-
a) The life of Christ
b) His suffering
c) His death
d) His resurrection 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
- It is well-attested
a) The apostles had seen the Risen Saviour
b) Multitudes had seen him
c) The apostle Paul bears personal witness 1 Corinthians 15:5-8
THE RAMIFICATIONS OF THIS DOCTRINE
Several ramifications are dealt with thoroughly in the Scriptures. Three may be highlighted here:-
- It is the premise of preaching and faithOtherwise faith and preaching would be in vain 1 Corinthians 15:12-17
- Jesus’ resurrection is seen as the firstfruit of the resurrection of the dead
1 Corinthians 15:20-23 - Christ’s resurrection symbolises the power of God
a) Over sin
b) Over human weaknesses
c) Over Satan 1 Corinthians 15:24-28
CHALLENGED TO REMAIN STEADFAST IN FAITH
Let us be challenged to remain steadfast and true to our risen Saviour and Lord.

- Let us be steadfast and immoveable in faith 1 Corinthians 15:58
- Let us abound in the work of the Lord 1 Corinthians 15:58
