PRECIOUS PROMISES

How precious are the promises the Lord has given to His people! Isaiah 43 details a short list of promises that God gave. Though the original context has to do with Israel, these promises are very real and relevant to all believers today.

    1. What is the basis of His promises?

      a) His role as Creator           Isaiah 43:1

      b) His work as Redeemer    Isaiah 43:1

      c) His relationship with His people as their Lord!

      i) I have called you by your name    Isaiah 43:1

      ii) You are Mine                                   Isaiah 43:1

      iii) I am the LORD your God            Isaiah 43:3

    2. What are some of His promises?

      a) His Presence

      When you pass through the waters I will be with you            Isaiah 43:2

      Fear not, for I am with you                                                           Isaiah 43:5

      b) His protection

      i) Rivers

      And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you                Isaiah 43:2

      ii) Fire

      When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned      

      Nor shall the flame scorch you                                                   Isaiah 43:2

      • How does God regard His people?

        a) Precious in His sight          Isaiah 43:4

        b) Honoured                             Isaiah 43:4

        c) Loved                                     Isaiah 43:4

       

      APPROPRIATE RESPONSE

      How should we respond to the Lord as we read and meditate on these precious promises?

       

      1. Fear not                          Isaiah 43:1

        a) Let us not allow fears to control us

        b) Let us exercise faith in God and Word

      2. Bearing witness           Isaiah 43:10

        a) Let us seek to be good and faithful witnesses                    Isaiah 43:10, 12

        b) Let us seek to be fruitful servants of the Lord                   Isaiah 43:10
