WHO MAY ABIDE IN YOUR TABERNACLE?

ABIDING IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD

The Psalmist David wrote many important Psalms. One of them is surely Psalm 15. In this Psalm David meditated on the subject of who may abide in the tabernacle of the Lord.

LORD, who may abide in Your tabernacle?
Who may dwell in Your holy hill? Psalm 15:1

1. The tabernacle of the Lord

a) Was David focusing on the physical tabernacle?

b) If so, then the answer is obvious.

c) Only the Priests and Levites would be allowed to dwell in God’s tabernacle

2. A spiritual dimension

a) If David had in mind the spiritual dimension, then the physical tabernacle would only be symbolic

b) The tabernacle would then represent God’s Presence among His people

c) It is very likely that David had the spiritual aspect in mind

WHO MAY INDEED ABIDE IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD?

King David made a list of things a person must have and must do if he is indeed blessed with the privilege of dwelling in God’s presence. Psalm 15:1-5 offers a short list of things that a person must practise in his life diligently if he is to abide in God’s tabernacle.

1. Right at the top of the list

a) He who walks uprightly Psalm 15:2

b) The emphasis on walking uprightly is unmistakable!

2. What is this “upright walk?”

a) This is an important question to raise up

b) Answers must be forthcoming

FEATURES OF LIFE THAT GOD APPROVES OF

Here is a short list of a life that God truly approves of:-

1. An upright walk                                                  Psalm 15:2

2. A life of practical righteousness                      Psalm 15:2

3. No misuse or abuse of the tongue                  Psalm 15:3

4. Honouring of those who fear the Lord          Psalm 15:4

5. He keeps his word at all cost                           Psalm 15:5

6. He does not practise extortion                        Psalm 15:5

7. He is free from corruption                               Psalm 15:5

The above well describes what it truly means to walk in faith and in our integrity! Let us be deeply challenged to live most significantly!
