(I) THE BIRTH OF MOSES

1. Moses was born to a Levitical family

2. Parents were both Levites (Exodus 2:1)

a) Amram (Father) (Exodus 6:20)

b) Jochebed (Mother) (Exodus 6:20)

3. Moses was a beautiful baby (Exodus 2:2)

4. He was hidden from view (Exodus 2:2)

(II) INFANT YEARS OF MOSES

1. She made an ark of bulrushes (Exodus 2:3)

2. Put the ark in the river (Exodus 2:3)

3. Sister Miriam was to watch (Exodus 2:4)

4. Understanding this act

a) Desperation

b) Frustration

c) Short term

(III) THE DAUGHTER OF PHARAOH

1. Bathing in the river (religious significance more than just hygiene)

2. The daughter of Pharaoh felt compassion for Baby Moses (Exodus 2:6)

3. She knew that he was a Hebrew child (Exodus 2:6)

(IV) MIRIAM’S BRAVERY

1. She offered to find someone to nurse Baby Moses (Exodus 2:7-8)

2. Moses’ mother was brought to Pharaoh’s daughter (Exodus 2:9)

(V) BRINGING UP MOSES

1. Moses’ mother would be paid to look after Moses (Exodus 2:9)

2. When Moses was old enough he was brought to the Pharaoh’s daughter (Exodus 2:10)
3. He was called “Moses” by the Pharaoh’s daughter (Exodus 2:10)

(VI) SIGNIFICANCE

1. Divine Involvement

a) Protection

b) Provision

2. Upheld from birth (Psalm 71:6)

3. Faith of Moses’ parents (Hebrews 11:23)
