A Second Chance At Life
I am deeply encouraged by what Pastor spoke on at our Easter Worship service. It is truly a privilege to be ministers of the New Covenant. The New Covenant is God’s way of saying to us that He is giving us a second chance at life.
“The new covenant”
2 Corinthians 3:6
What Jesus did on the cross instituted the New Covenant. It is through this special covenant that we are given a new lease of life where God can specially work within us. Where there was once endless sins and transgression in our lives, the Lord has given us a second opportunity at life where He would bring about His perfecting work within us. Easter is even more special knowing that Christ’s death and resurrection had brought about this New Covenant for us.
A New Pulsating Lifeforce Within Us
“But the Spirit gives life.”
2 Corinthians 3:6
The New Covenant brings about a special work of the Spirit of God in our lives. The Holy Spirit writes upon our hearts through His servants and He gives life to our heart and soul. This work is not according to the letter of the law but according to the law of the Spirit. He would bring about His fruit in our lives. He works in our heart and soul and He gives tremendous and pulsating life within us. God’s spirit touches us and brings life to us that is so obvious and clear to others. This is the glory that we can see in each Christian who seeks the filling of the Spirit and yields to His work of writing upon their hearts. Young people, may we continue to allow God’s servants to write upon our hearts.
Transformed Life In Christ
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 3:18
When we believe in Christ, we can have a deep sense of liberty in the Spirit. We have been set free from the power of sin and all things that cause us to be in bondage. Through the Spirit of God, we can be transformed from one level of faith to another. As we look at the glorious image of the Lord Jesus, the Spirit of God would breathe life into us and we would change from glory to glory. He will make us more and more like Christ. We can have a new life in Christ. As we appreciate this new life in Him and as we continue to grow and change, we can be ministers of the New Covenant.
Becoming An Effective Servant Of The Lord Jesus
“Who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant”
2 Corinthians 2:6
It is because of this New Covenant that we can be truly effective ministers of the Lord. There comes a great sense of purpose in living for the Lord because it is He who enables us to be sufficient as His servant. The word “minister” in Greek means “one who waits on tables and serves food”. He is a servant who humbles himself to serve others. We can be effective when we humbly serve each other under this New Covenant. Our sufficiency is of the Lord and He makes us effective as His servants. Young people, let’s seek to serve as ministers of the New Covenant. The Lord is the One who has begun a good work within us. May the Lord continue to work in our lives that we may learn to be able to serve Him most effectively.
