The Spirit’s Warning Concerning False Teachers In These Last Days
Great demonic powers are at work today. The Spirit of God spoke through the Apostle Paul that in the Last Days some will depart from the faith because of the work of these evil spiritual powers.
“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron”
1 Timothy 4:1-2
The word “says” is in the present tense. The Greek present tense brings across the idea of continuous action. In other words, the Spirit of God continues to warn us today that these things are indeed factual and people are moving away from having a true faith in Him. People depart from the truth because they are being led astray by deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. These spirits produce false doctrines through false teachers, who lie and deceive through erroneous teachings. Young people, we must seek to stand against these false doctrines. Let’s learn to counter such falsehood and not be led astray by them.
Being A Spiritually Nourished Servant Of Jesus Christ
“If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of good doctrine which you have carefully followed.”
1 Timothy 4:6
One good way of standing against apostasy is to be a good servant of the Lord Jesus. How can we start to be a good servant of the Lord Jesus? We need to be spiritually nourished first.
1. Nourished By The Word Of Faith
The word of God can produce faith in our life. When words of faith have been specially taught to us, they would bring about spiritual nourishment to the soul. The idea of the word “nourished” is that an external entity is doing the nourishing. Paul had taught Timothy many wonderful words of faith. As he fed on them, these words would bring about love from a pure heart, a good conscience and sincere faith (1 Timothy 1:5). Timothy would find the strength to stand against any form of false teachings. Young people, let’s take time each day to be nourished and renewed by the word of God that has been taught to us. Let’s not neglect the feeding of our soul with words of faith
2. Nourished By Practising Good Doctrine In Our Life
Furthermore, the good servant of God would live out his life well by following after good doctrine. Timothy had carefully followed the doctrines that Paul had taught to him from God’s word. From the beginning, he had already decided to adhere closely to these good doctrines. Because of that, the effect from these good teachings continued to work in his life. He was spiritually nourished and strengthened by them. Young people, let’s also seek to carefully follow all the doctrines that we are learning from the word of God. Let’s seek to be spiritually nourished by determining to practise them as part of our life.
