Do We Pray For Each Other?
Young people, do we take the time to pray for fellow brothers and sisters in Christ? It is not an easy thing to learn to pray for our fellow Christians. The Apostle Paul was able to pray for the Philippian Church because he had such a deep sense of bond with them.
“How greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.”
Philippians 1:8
Paul had Christ-like affections for the Church. He longed specially for the brethren in Philippi. It was this love for them that caused Paul to pray for them. Young people, there is a group of young people going overseas very soon for further studies. They need all the prayer support they can get. There are those who will be taking their prelims soon. Do we care enough to pray for them? We must learn to cover each other in prayer.
The Example Of Paul In Praying For The Philippian Church
Paul had set for us a wonderful example to emulate. This was how he went about praying for others.
1. Thanking God For Each Other
“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you”
Philippians 1:3
Paul had a heart of thanksgiving for the Philippian Church. As he remembered them fondly, he specially gave thanks to God. There was a deep sense of gratitude for the Philippian Church. Do we also take the time to give thanks for each other?
2. Praying Consistently For Each Other
“Always in every prayer of mine making request for you”
Philippians 1:4
Paul prayed consistently for the Philippian Church. Every time he prayed, he would intercede for them. He would make his requests known to God on behalf of the Philippian Church. Let’s also learn to pray always for our fellow young people.
3. Praying With Joy
“Making request for you all with joy”
Philippians 1:4
Let’s also seek to pray with joy. Every request made for the Philippian Church was made with a deep sense of joy. Prayer should never be something that we do grudgingly. The manner of prayer should be one of joy and thanksgiving. Let’s start learning to pray for each other. Our prayer support can make a big difference.
