Many Touched By The Lord’s Love
God has once again greatly blessed our Youth Conference. We want to truly give all glory and honour to the Lord for showering His richest grace on the Youth Conference this past week when we were studying the wonderful theme of “The love of God”. It was through many sessions of studying from the Scriptures and listening to the testimonies of the Conference officers that hearts were blessed. Many have been touched by His immense love shown towards us in so many ways. We want to praise God for revealing Himself and His love to many. May the Lord continue to encourage and challenge the hearts of the conferees to respond to His love in definite ways.
Learning To Abide In The Lord’s Love
One of our responses should be to learn to abide in the Lord’s love.
“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love”
John 15:9-10
The model of how we should love is seen by the way God the Father loved the Lord Jesus. God loved the Lord Jesus with a great and wonderful love. Even as God has loved Him, He has also loved His disciples. We should learn to abide and reduplicate the immensity and intensity of the love of Jesus shown to us. The Lord Jesus loved His disciples to the very end. We too must learn to love with such integrity. If we truly keep His commandments, we are remaining in His love. Young people, let’s learn to abide in the Lord’s kind of love.
The Challenge To Show Practical Love
“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.”
1 John 3:16-18
When we have experienced the sacrificial love of the Lord Jesus, we too are obligated to love others in the same sacrificial manner. We owe it to the Lord to emulate His love to others. We ought to lay down our lives for others too. Furthermore, when we see a brother who is definitely in need, can we shut our heart to him? The answer is a resounding “No”. The word “heart” in the Greek is the word “bowels”. It is reference to the idea of compassion. We should not stop showing compassion towards those in need. If we do this, the love of God is definitely not abiding within us. Our challenge is to not just talk and discuss about love. The important endeavor is for us to learn to love in actual deeds and in truth. Let’s come for the Christmas Caroling Service on the 18th of December. The offering for that night would be going towards the orphanage work in Myanmar. Let’s also come for the Christmas Day worship and lunch at Shangri-la. Let’s come for these events that we may show practical love at Christmas time.
