Our Lord Jesus Became One Of Us
What does Christmas mean to you? One of the most encouraging thoughts to dwell on is the incarnation of the Lord Jesus.
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us”
John 1:14
Our Lord Jesus is the living and eternal Word. He was there in the very beginning of time and in every way the same essence as God the Father (John 1:1). He is the Creator of the universe (John 1:3). In Him, we can find the light of life (John 1:9). The Lord Jesus is the self-existing, almighty, invisible and everlasting God. Yet, at Christmas, the living Word took on flesh. Infinity took on that which is finite. God became one of us and dwelt with us. The Lord Jesus was both God and man concurrently. The Son of God, the creator of the world, took on flesh to identify with us. This is such an amazing expression of His love! Jesus could have chosen not to be with us. But He loved us enough to do so. What a great thought to dwell on!
Beholding The Glory Of God
“And we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:14
When Jesus was on this earth, John and the other disciples saw something amazing. They saw the glory of God in the form of a Man. Before this, the glory of God was seen as a very glorious physical entity. When the temple of God was built by Solomon, the glory of God filled the temple at its dedication (2 Chronicles 7:1-2). The glory of God was so physically glorious that the priests could not enter it. When Jesus came to be with us, the glory was now seen through His actions and words. As they saw His glory, they were seeing the same glory of their Father in heaven. What they beheld was also truly amazing. The Lord Jesus was full of grace and truth. He was most gracious to sinners who sought Him in repentance. He did not condemn the lady who committed adultery (John 8:11). What He taught were pure truths from the Scriptures that touched hearts and changed the lives of many. He spoke gracious words to the people and some recognised that He was no ordinary person. They were beholding the Son of God in their presence. Christmas is about beholding, wondering and appreciating the glory of the Lord Jesus. He is full of grace and truth.
Appreciating The Glory Of The Lord Jesus
Young people, as we celebrate our Lord Jesus’ birthday this Saturday, let’s stand in awe of who He is and how He came to be with us. He showed forth His love by showing us grace that knows no bounds and truth that knows no corruption. The Lord demonstrated His great love to us when He came to be with us and to die for us. Let’s appreciate His glory in a fresh new way. Let’s worship Him with great awe and joy this Christmas and always. Wishing all a Blessed Christmas!
