Are We Ready For “The End”?
Christ is coming again! It may be sooner than we expect. Peter wrote in his epistle of how “the end of all things is at hand” (1 Peter 4:7). When Christ comes for his Church, He will bring about an end to life as we know it. The Church will be raptured. The world will go through seven years of tribulation, after which Christ will set up His Millennium Kingdom on earth. Peter was very conscious that the end was near. Young people, we must learn to have a heightened awareness of Christ’s imminent coming. Are we ready for it?
Giving An Account Of Our Lives
“They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.”
1 Peter 4:5
When the Lord Jesus comes to this earth again, it will no longer be as a baby. He will come as a mighty King and Judge who will judge the world. Every one of us will have to give an account of our lives to Him. He will judge both non-believers and believers. It is vital that we cultivate a sense of accountability to the Lord now.
Cultivating An “End Times” Mindset
What we need is an “End Times” mindset.
1. The Need To Be Serious
“Therefore be serious …”
1 Peter 4:7
This is no laughing matter. This is a time to be serious with our faith and lives. It is so easy to be caught up with doing our own things that we are not ready for Christ’s coming. It is time that we change the way we think and live. It is time to think seriously how we want to live our lives. Soon, the end will come. The Lord would judge us according to what we have done.
2. The Need To Watch And Pray
“… And watchful in your prayers.”
1 Peter 4:7
The need is for us to be also watchful. We need to be on the alert. We need to be in prayer. The Lord Jesus taught His disciples to be watchful. He will come for us as a thief in the night. We must be vigilant in our walk with God. Let’s not be caught up with the things of the world that we end up not ready for His coming. The challenge is to be ready always that we may be counted worthy of the Lord.
