TIME AND JUDGMENT

The Universal Principle Of Time And Judgment

We are accountable for the time that God has given to us on this earth. Depending on whether we use it well or waste it away, there will either be good ramifications or dire consequences. When King Solomon was reflecting on the vanities of life, God revealed to him the important universal principle of time and judgment.

“Because for every matter there is a time and judgment” 
Ecclesiastes 8:6

Time and judgment apply to every matter of life. All things that we do are subject to this integral and universal principle. If we neglect our studies, the natural judgment that would come is that we will experience failure in our exams. On the other hand, if we do work hard in our studies now, then the judgment that would come is that we will be rewarded for our efforts. Whether it is working on a job, serving in Church or how we live our lives as Christians, how we use our time determines the judgment that will come for each matter.

Those Who Reject This Understanding Of Time And Judgment

“Though the misery of man increases greatly.” 
Ecclesiastes 8:6

What happens to those who reject this principle of time and judgment? They will not only feel great regret about their life, they will also suffer great misery. Because they did not use their time well, they pay the price of their own neglect. It is indeed a fearful thing to understand that the lack of accountability for God’s gift of time will lead to severe and increasing sadness. No one can tell what ill happen in the future or when we will die. This is indeed a principle that we must take time to know well. It would be most unwise for us to disregard it. The challenge is for us to truly make full use of the time that God has given to us.

Discerning Time And Judgment

“He who keeps his (the King’s) command will experience nothing harmful;
And a wise man’s heart discerns both time and judgment.” 
Ecclesiastes 8:5

A wise man will learn to live according to this principle of time and judgment. He will seek to master them. He discerns both time and judgement with regard to all his responsibilities of life. For example, a wise man knows that he needs to keep the laws of the land so that he will not have to face judgment from a court judge. If he were to go to jail for crimes against the laws of our country, he would definitely be wasting his time. Let’s not be foolish in how we use our time. Our challenge is to seek to be prudent and discerning in how we use it. Most of us will be having holidays in one week’s time. Let’s not waste whatever time God has given to us. We must learn to make full use of it. Let’s plan our time carefully and be wise in the way we use it because soon, judgment will come.
