Praising God Whole Heartedly Even In The Midst Of Troubles

Can we still praise God despite the troubles of life? Our answer should be a definite “Yes!” King David was going through a time when he was in the midst of troubles (Psalm 138:7). His enemies were angry and were out to get him. Despite facing problems and stressful situations, he was determined to still praise the Lord with his whole heart.

“I will praise You with my whole heart;
Before the gods I will sing praises to You.

I will worship toward Your holy temple,

And praise Your name”

Psalm 138:1-2

David had a deep consciousness of God and he determined to lift up His name with all his heart. He did not want his heart to be distracted by his problems. He focused on the Lord and wanted to lift Him up before all the rulers and judges of the different lands. He determined to openly worship and glorify the Lord’s name among the people. Young people, as we look forward to our anniversary, let’s also determine to openly and wholeheartedly praise the Lord even in the midst of troubles.

Great Reasons For Whole Hearted Worship

1. Experiencing The Greatness Of God’s Word

“For Your lovingkindness and Your truth;
For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.”

Psalm 138:2

The Lord has magnified His word above all things. There is no greater thing on this earth than His word. It is through His lovingkindness that our great God has given us His word and the privilege of knowing His truths. He Himself has chosen to lift His word to such an extent that it cannot be measured. As we celebrate our anniversary, let’s praise God for the truths from His word that has been preached in Bethany these 36 years. He has truly magnified His word above measure here in our Church. Let’s glorify God for the word preached and taught to us.

2. Remembering The Prayers Answered By God

“In the day when I cried out You answered me,
And made me bold with strength in my soul.”

Psalm 138:3

David remembered how when he cried out to God, He heard his prayer. The Lord made him bold and strengthened his soul. Our great God has also showed us grace by answering our prayers in our times of need. Last weekend’s announcement of how we are debt free with regards to our Church building project is a tremendous answer to our prayer. We have fully paid up our Church building. We cried out to the Lord for His mercy and He provided for our needs. He gave us boldness to attempt this Church building project and to finish it. Let’s remember the Lord’s hand in providing for our needs. Let’s wholeheartedly praise God for prayers answered.
