Discovering The Importance Of Studying God’s Word
Youth Conference has been an “awesome” time of studying the word of God. At the conference, we studied about the many aspects of the Lord’s presence in our lives. Our hearts were challenged and deeply encouraged by His word. Many of us have come to re-appreciate the value of the word of God. Without it, our soul would be spiritually parched. Our challenge is to review what we have learned and to continue to study from the Lord’s word. Through it, we can gain so much benefit.
1. It Can Bring Life And Change To The Soul
“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul”
Psalm 19:7
2. It Gives Wisdom
“The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple”
Psalm 19:7
3. It Brings Joy To The Heart
“The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart”
Psalm 19:8
4. It Brings Enlightenment And Discernment To One’s Understanding
“The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes”
Psalm 19:8
David understood the intrinsic nature of the word of God. It can directly affect our lives in a great magnitude. If we were to realise how essential the word of God is to us, then we should also commit ourselves to studying and meditating on it as David did.
Cultivating A Deep Desire To Study God’s Word
“More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold,
Sweeter also than honey and the honey comb.”
Psalm 19:10
David considered the word of God as far more valuable than gold. Even fine gold, which was more precious, could not be compared to the word of God. As David studied the Scriptures, he found that it was “sweeter” than honey, even those from the honeycomb. Let’s make it our commitment to know the Scriptures even more after Youth Conference. Let’s dwell on all the lessons that we have learnt. Let’s push ourselves to meditate on them. The rewards that we receive from studying the Scriptures far out-weighs any earthly treasures. Let’s make studying the Scriptures our daily discipline of life.
