Simeon – An Example Of Faithfulness
Simeon is a good example of what it means to be faithful to the Lord. He lived his life in righteousness and in devotion to Him.
“And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.”
Luke 2:25
Simeon faithfully and patiently waited for the coming of the Messiah who would bring much comfort to the nation of Israel. The Holy Spirit had been strengthening him and sustaining him as he sought to be faithful. Young people, let’s be like Simeon in being faithful to the Lord to the day He calls us home.
Simeon – An Example Of Holding On To God’s Word
“And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.”
Luke 2:26
The Holy Spirit revealed to Simeon a special word. He would not die until he was able to see the face of the Lord’s Anointed One. This was indeed a great privilege! Simeon held fast to this word. It was the word of God that gave him a definite hope that he would come face to face with the Messiah one day and he held on to it. Even till old age, he still held on to the word of God. We too must learn to cling on to the word of God no matter what we may go through in life.
Simeon – An Example Of Glorifying The Lord
“He took Him up in his arms and blessed God”
Luke 2:28
When Simeon saw the fulfilment of that revelation from the Holy Spirit, there came heart-felt praise and thanksgiving to the Lord. The word “blessed” means to celebrate with praises. There was a deep sense of joy as Simeon saw the Lord Jesus for who He is. He will bring salvation to all peoples. As we celebrate Christmas, let’s truly bless God for who the Lord Jesus is. May each new understanding that the Lord gives to us bring about greater praise to Him. Let’s seek to glorify the Lord so much more this Christmas and always.
Wishing All A Blessed And Meaningful Christmas
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all young people at Bethany a blessed Christmas. May we look forward to a new year of being faithful to the Lord and His ministry. I would also like to greet all young people overseas a blessed Christmas and a great new year. I will be remembering all of you in prayer. May the Lord keep you and bless you this Christmas and in the coming year. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
