CONTINUING IN WHAT WE HAVE LEARNT

Taking Time To Ponder On Lessons Learnt

It has been almost a week since Youth Conference 2008 ended. Have you taken time to review the lessons that you have learned? If not, please do take the time to do so. In this day and age where people go astray from the truth, we must seek to hang on to it. We must not forget the lessons that Pastor has taught us at conference.

“Meditate on these things” 
1 Timothy 4:15

Paul challenged young Timothy to take time to ponder and meditate on all that he had been instructing him on. We too must seek to dwell on the truths of God. The more we review what has been taught to us, the more His word will impact our lives.

Committing Ourselves To The Lessons Learnt

“Give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.” 
1 Timothy 4:15

Paul also challenged Timothy to commit himself to these lessons. If we truly want to be strong, we must not just remember the teachings from God’s word. We must submit ourselves to them. We must also give ourselves fully to the imbibing and the practising of these Biblical truths. When we do this, our progress will be seen by all. It will be most obvious to people that we are seeking to live out the word of God.

Not Taking Things For Granted

“Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine.” 
1 Timothy 4:16

While we seek to grow in our faith, we must not forget to take heed. We are to constantly be on guard spiritually. It is so easy for us to take things for granted. We are to check ourselves constantly whether we are walking in the Lord’s ways or not. We are to hold fast to the doctrine that we have heard from the Scriptures.

Continuing In The Word

“Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” 
1 Timothy 4:16

Timothy was meant to persist in what he had learnt. He was to continue in the doctrines that he had been taught. When we do this also, we will not only deliver ourselves from sin, we will also help deliver others form similar problems as we share our testimony. For example, a young man shared during testimony time at Youth Conference of how he made a decision to stop playing computer games after the March family camp. He deleted his computer programmes after the camp and has not played any game since then. After he shared his testimony, others also went home and did the same thing. When we continue in His word, we can be a tremendous example to others. Let’s seek to always continue in His word.
