(I) THE CELEBRATION OF CHRISTMAS
1. Preparation of heart and soul
2. Pondering the Life of the Lord Jesus as One Called by God
3. Celebrating Christmas with a deeper understanding of the doctrine “Called by God”
(II) THE CALL OF ISRAEL
Cf. Isaiah 41
1. To be God’s servant
2. But this Call was never fully understood
3. Israel failed miserably as a servant of the Lord
(III) THE CALL OF THE MESSIAH
Cf. Isaiah 42
1. He would have a similar Calling
2. He succeeded where Israel failed
(IV) THE CALL OF GOD
1. Call to be a Servant by God
“Behold! My Servant…” Isaiah 42:1a
a) As the LORD
b) In righteousness this Call was given
c) Israel did not trust God fully
d) Jesus trusted His Father totally
2. Christ’s Response to this Call to Servanthood
