He Has Made Everything Beautiful In His Time

The seasons of life

Life is at times complex and not easy to understand. The author of Ecclesiastes, King Solomon, often found it challenging to understand the meaning of life.

But one way in which he was able to see life was to note that there are different seasons in life. He wrote, “To everything there is a season,” (Eccl 3:1) We all go through different seasons in life. There is a season for everything. We need to understand life in terms of time or seasons.

The cycle of life

“A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted;” (Eccl 3:2)

The seasons of life can be understood in terms of cycles. We all go through similar cycles in life. There will be a time for us to be born and there will be time for us to die. All of us will go through the same cycle of seasons. This is the reality of life.

The purpose of life

“A time for every purpose under heaven:” (Eccl 3:1)

No matter what season we go through, there is always a purpose that we must seek to understand. When we are born or when we die, there is always a purpose. It is a purpose that has been determined by God. In understanding that purpose, we would understand our place on this earth as we go through the seasons of life.

The profit of life

“What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied.” (Eccl 3:10)

In life, God has given us work. Many of us are preoccupied with work that has been entrusted to us. We labour hard in doing that work. But what is the profit of that work…of that life? Many find that our work can be in vain. Yet there must be a profit in all the work that we do.

The beauty of God’s Work

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” (Eccl 3:11)

It is only when we involve God in all that we do and all that we go through that we see the profit and that all is not in vain. When God is involved in work, no matter what season we go through, it will turn out beautiful. God will make all things beautiful in His time. Each piece of work and labour that we strive for in the seasons of life will become beautiful in time through work of God. Let us seek to involve God in all things that we do.

The eternity of God

“Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.” (ccl 3:12)

Eternity is something that all of us cannot fully understand. Man with his finite mind cannot fully comprehend that which is eternal. It is indeed something awesome when God puts eternity in our hearts. As we seek to understand the work of God from beginning to end, we can only submit in humility that we cannot fully comprehend it. We only know that His work will always turn out beautiful. Let us be challenged to have absolute trust in the work of God in our lives that will make all things beautiful in His time.
