Behold the works of God
Behold the works of God
Text: Psalm 46
Message Notes
(I) CHALLENGE TO “BEHOLD THE WORKS OF GOD”
1. He “made desolations in the earth” (Psalm 46:8)
2. He makes wars to cease (Psalm 46:9)
“The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved;
He uttered His voice, the earth melted.” Psalm 46:6
(II) CONCEPT OF APPLICATION OF THE WORKS OF GOD
1. A Concept meant to be applied
2. A Concept unapplied achieves nothing
3. A Multi-faceted Concept with deep spiritual significance
a) God is in the midst of His people
“The LORD of hosts is with us…” Psalm 46:7a, 11a
b) God’s help will be given to His people
“…God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.” Psalm 46:5b
c) God will be a Refuge for His people
“…The God of Jacob is our refuge.” Psalm 46:7b, 11b
(III) CONTEXT OF APPLICATION OF THE WORKS OF GOD
1. Threat of war
2. Threat of Natural calamities
a) Earthquakes
“…Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea” Psalm 46:2
b) Tsunamis
“Though the waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling.” Psalm 46:3
(IV) COMFORT AND CONFIDENCE
1. Gladness of heart
“There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.” Psalm 46:4
2. Stillness of heart
“Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10
