(I) A CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF REJOICING IN THE LORD’S WORD
“I rejoice at Your word As one who finds great treasure.” Psalm 119:162
1. What is “Treasure”?
a) It could mean a national heritage treasure.
b) It can also mean some one who has found the mother lode.
2. An acknowledgment of the psalmist of the word of God as treasure
a) The Psalmist found that God’s word was a great treasure in the midst of the afflictions
b) The Psalmist rejoiced in the God’s word
(II) SOME REASONS FOR REJOICING IN THE LORD’S WORD AS TREASURE
1. Peace is a treasure
“Great peace have those who love Your law…” Psalm 119:165
a) God’s word gives us peace
b) Though we may go through stress and frustrations we have to learn to love and respect the LORD’S word.
2. Hope is a treasure
“LORD, I hope for Your salvation, And I do Your commandments.” Psalm 119:166
a) God’s word gives us hope
b) Learn to recall the promises and blessings of the LORD
c) Learn to rejoice in the hope of the salvation of God
3. Understanding is a treasure
“Let my cry come before You, O LORD;
Give me understanding according to Your word.” Psalm 119:169
a) God’s word gives an “Understanding”
b) God’s word teaches us helps us to walk wisely with a great sense of understanding
(III) THE AUTHOR’S RESPONSE TO THE LORD’S WORD
1. Rejoicing in His word
“I rejoice at Your word…” Psalm 119:162
2. Loving His word
“…But I love Your law.” Psalm 119:163
3. Obeying His word
“…And I do Your commandments.” Psalm 119:166
4. Worshiping Him for His word
