(I) THE KINGDOM OF GOD

1. The Preaching of the Kingdom of God

“I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent” Luke 4:43

a) Proclamation of the kingdom of God

b) Purpose of life related to the preaching of the kingdom of God

c) Power of God accompanied Jesus as He preached the kingdom of God ( Luke 6:19 )

2. Invitation to be involved in the work of the Kingdom of God

a) Invitation to become trained Disciples ( Luke 5:27 )

b) Training for ministry ( Luke 4, 6 )

c) Empowering for ministry ( Luke 9:1-2 )

3. Learning deep lessons of the kingdom of God

a) Discovering the lordship of Christ ( Luke 6:5 )

b) Appreciating the power of Christ ( Luke 6:19 )

c) Treasuring the relationship with Jesus as Teacher ( Luke 6:19 )

(II) SEEKING THE KINGDOM OF GOD

“But seek the kingdom of God…” Luke 12:31a

1. Seek

a) An imperative word that demands obedience

b) An imperative word that demands active seeking

c) An imperative word that demands a consistent activity of seeking

2. The Kingdom of God

a) Seeking entrance into the kingdom of God first

b) Seeking to know the King

c) Seeking to understand and appreciate the teachings of the kingdom

(III) LIVING AS ROYAL SUBJECTS OF THE KINGDOM

1. Serving the King faithfully (Luke 12:35-48)

a) Parable of the Expectant Steward ( Luke 12:35-40 )

b) Parable of the Faithful and wise Steward ( Luke 12:42-48 )

2. Challenge to be found faithful

“Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching…” Luke 12:37

“…he will make him ruler over all that he has.” Luke 12:44

“…For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.” Luke 12:48
