3. It is sadly poorly understood and even more poorly practised

(II) THE DOCTRINE OF LORDSHIP IN THE BOOK OF GENESIS
1. God is introduced as the Awesome Creator of the world (Genesis 1)
(Cf. Genesis 1 … The word “God”- Elohim- appears 32 times in one chapter)
a) God said ( Genesis 1:3, 6, 9 )
b) God saw ( Genesis 1:4, 10, 21, 25, 31 )
c) God called ( Genesis 1:5, 8, 10 )
e) God made ( Genesis 1: 7, 16, 25 )
f) God set ( Genesis 1:17 )
g) God created ( Genesis 1:21, 27 )
h) God blessed ( Genesis 1:22, 28 )
2. Significance of the term “God” Elohim
a) Power

3. God is introduced as “LORD God”

a) To establish His identity

(III) CHALLENGES IN THE STUDY OF THE DOCTRINE OF GOD
1. To give to the LORD God the Recognition that is due
2. To learn to relate to Him appropriately as servants to a Great LORD
3. To acknowledge God as the LORD of our life
