ON YOU I WAIT ALL THE DAY LONG

(I) THE CONCEPT OF WAITING ON THE LORD

1. Bringing life’s concerns to God in prayer

2. Believing that God will respond to prayer

3. Braving all circumstances till God answers prayer

(II) FURTHER ELEMENTS OF THIS CONCEPT

1. Lifting up of the soul to God in prayer (Psalm 25:1)

2. Exercising of trust in the Lord (Psalm 25:2)

3. There is no cause for anyone to be disappointed (ashamed) for having trusted in God (Psalm 25:3)

(III) LEARNING TO WAIT ON THE LORD

1. Praying that God would:-

a) Show us His ways ( Psalm 25:4a )

b) Teach us His paths ( Psalm 25:4b )

c) Lead us in His truth ( Psalm 25:5a )

2. Praying to God as “the God of salvation”

a) Personal relationship with God

b) Treasured relationship with God as Saviour

(IV) HINDRANCES THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED

1. The problem of sins of youth (Psalm 25:7a)

2. The problem of transgressions (Psalm 25:7b)

(V) ASSURANCE THAT GOD WOULD RESPOND TO WAITING ON HIM

1. Because of who He is

a) He is “good and upright” ( Psalm 25:8a )

b) He is full of “mercy and truth” ( Psalm 25:10a )

2. Because we fulfil the following conditions

a) We exercise humility ( Psalm 25:9b )

b) We seek to keep His Covenant and His testimonies ( Psalm 25:10b )

c) We practise the fear of the Lord ( Psalm 25:12a )

(VI) BLESSINGS PROMISED TO THOSE WHO WAIT ON THE LORD

1. God will teach him His ways (Psalm 25:12b)

2. God will enable him to dwell in prosperity (Psalm 25:13a)

3. The blessings extend to descendants (Psalm 25:13b)

4. God will show them His covenant (Psalm 25:14b)
