(I) PRAYING IN DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES
1. Spirit of Lamentation
“Woe is me!For I am like those who gather summer fruits, Like those who glean vintage grapes; there is no cluster to eat” Micah 7:1
2. Reasons for Lamentation
a) Perishing of the faithful ( Micah 7:2 )
b) Pursuit of evil ( Micah 7:2 )
c) Corruption in the land ( Micah 7:3-4 )
d) Can’t even trust family or friend ( Micah 7:5-6 )
(II) PRAYING AND WAITING ON THE LORD
“Therefore I will look to the LORD;I will wait for the God of my salvation;My God will hear me.” Micah 7:7
1. Looking up to the Lord in hope
2. Waiting on God
3. Believing that God will hear
(III) CONFIDENCE THROUGH WAITING ON THE LORD
1. When there are setbacks
“When I fall, I will arise” Micah 7:8b
2. When darkness surrounds
“When I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me” Micah 7:8c
3. When one has to bear punishment
“I will bear the indignation of the Lord,because I have sinned against Him, Until He pleads my case and execute justice for me.He will bring me forth to the light. I will see His righteousness” Micah 7:9
(IV) A SPECIAL INTERCESSORY PRAYER
Micah 7:14-20
1. Pleading “heritage”
“Shepherd Your people with Your staff, the flock of Your heritage” Micah 7:14
2. Pleading for Mercy
“Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy.” Micah 7:18
3. Pleading Compassion
“He will again have compassion on us, and will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea” Micah 7:19
4. Pleading “covenant” relationship
“You will give truth to Jacob and mercy to Abraham, which You have sworn to our fathers from days of old.” Micah 7:20
