PROPHECY AND HISTORY

CONTEXT
1. The struggle between the Kingdom of the South (Egypt) and the Kingdom of the North (Syria)
2. The word “king” is a reference to the existing ruler
INVOLVEMENT OF OTHER NATIONS/KINGS
Many shall rise up against the king of the South Daniel 11:14
1. Many people
2. Many nations in the region
INVOLVEMENT OF JEWS
“Violent men of your people” Daniel 11:14
1. They will be filled with their own vision Daniel 11:14
2. They will exalt themselves
3. They will be involved in the battles against the king of the South
4. But these violent men will fall Daniel 11:14
THE KING OF THE NORTH
1. He will lay siege against a city of the king of the South Daniel 11:15
City of Sidon (major sea port)
2. The forces of the South cannot withstand the king of the North
3. He will continue to prevail, bringing destruction in his path to the Glorious Land
(reference to Israel) Daniel 11:16
PLANS OF THE KING OF THE NORTH
1. He wants to conquer the kingdom of the North Daniel 11:17
2. He has “upright ones” with him Daniel 11:17
3. He will send his daughter to the king of the North
Cleopatra
4. But she will turn against the plans of her father
5. She will not side her father in his plot against the king of the North Daniel 11:17
6. He now attacks the coastlands Daniel 11:18a
7. But he encounters opposition from “a ruler” Daniel 11:18b
(Identified as a ruler from Rome)
8. He returns to his own land and perishes Daniel 11:19
THE BELIEVER AMIDST SUCH TURMOIL
“Same spirit of faith” needed
1. Faith… Hope… Trust
2. Prayer
3. Perseverance
4. Courage
5. Survival skills
