A SAD HISTORICAL PATTERN OBSERVED
1. The children of Israel
a) They did evil Judges 2:11a
b) They served Baals and Ashtoreths Judges 2:11b, 13
c) They forsook the LORD Judges 2:12a, 13
d) They followed other gods Judges 2:12b
e) They bowed to them in worship Judges 2:12c
f) They provoked the LORD to anger Judges 2:12d
2. The Reaction of the Lord
a) Hot anger against Israel Judges 2:14a
b) Delivered Israel into the hands of the plunderers Judges 2:14b
c) Israel could no longer stand against their enemies Judges 2:14c
d) God’s hand was turned against Israel for calamity Judges 2:15a
e) God’s word of warning was being fulfilled Judges 2:15b

3. The Raising up of Judges
a) Special leaders called “judges” were raised up Judges 2:16a
