MICAH’S SHRINE
Judges 17:5-6
1. He had a shrine (a place of worship)
2. He had a household of idols
3. He had an ephod
4. He consecrated one of his sons as a priest to look after the shrine
A LEVITE FROM THE LAND OF JUDAH
1. Identified as a Levite Judges 17:7
2. He lived in Judah Judges 17:8
3. He departed from Bethlehem to look for a place to stay Judges 17:8
GOD’S ORIGINAL PROVISION FOR THE LEVITES
Numbers 35
1. Israel was to provide for the Levites Numbers 35:2
2. They were to be given cities Numbers 35:2
3. They were to be given “command land around the cities” Numbers 35:2
4. The common land could be used for animal husbandry Numbers 35:3
5. Generous provision was to be made for the Levites Numbers 35:5
SPECIAL CITIES OF REFUGE
1. Some Levites were to look after cities of refuge
2. Six cities were designated as cities of refuge for alleged criminals Numbers 35:6-15
3. The Levites would to adjudicate in these cities of refuge
4. They were to help uphold law and order in the country
THE WANDERING LEVITE
1. He was found wandering, looking for a place to stay Judges 17:7-9
2. Micah offered him a position
a) Be a father to me Judges 17:10a
b) Be a priest to me Judges 17:10b
c) His pay
i) 10 shekels of silver a year
ii) A suit of clothes
iii) Sustenance Judges 17:10
ACCEPTANCE OF MICAH’S OFFER
1. He accepted Micah’s offer
2. He was content with this offer Judges 17:11a
3. He was like one of the family Judges 17:11b
4. He was consecrated as a priest by Micah Judges 17:12
MICAH’S EXULTATION
1. Micah’s belief
a) Now I know that the Lord will be good to me Judges 17:13a
b) Since I have a Levite as priest
