REASONS FOR WRITING
The Apostle Paul did not write letters to everybody. That would have been an impossible task! A careful reading of the letters of Paul would reveal that there were always reasons why he wrote. The following were some reasons why Paul wrote letters.

To instruct

To refute wrong teachings
-
To correct erroneous views
-
To express appreciation
-
To encourage people
THE RECIPIENTS OF HIS LETTERS
The following things may be noted about the recipients of Paul’s letters:-
1. Churches he founded
a) Corinthians
b) Galatians
c) Ephesians
d) Philippians
e) Thessalonians
2. Churches he did not found but he felt it necessary to write to them
a) On the basis of his authority as an apostle of Christ Jesus.
b) To help the churches:-
i) Romans
To deepen their knowledge.
ii) Colossians
To refute wrong teachings.
3. Personal letters
a) Timothy
b) Titus
c) Philemon
4. Paul’s personal letter to Philemon had these simple introductory words
“To Philemon our beloved friend and fellow labourer.”
