1. Concerned about the Name of the Lord

a) The might of the Lord   (Numbers 14:13)
b) The fame of the Lord   (Numbers 14:15)
i) Deliverance from Egypt   (Numbers 14:13)
ii) God’s Presence among His people   (Numbers 14:14)
c) Bad things will be said about the Lord by enemies
i) The Lord was not able to fulfil His promise   (Numbers 14:16)
ii) Thus He killed His people   (Numbers 14:16)

2. Pleading the Power of God

a) Appeal to the greatness of God’s power   (Numbers 14:17)
b) The longsuffering of God   (Numbers 14:18)
c) Abundance of mercy   (Numbers 14:18)
d) Forgiveness of iniquity and transgression   (Numbers 14:18)
e) But by no means clearing the guilty   (Numbers 14:18)

3. Plea for Divine Pardon

a) Pardoning of the iniquity of the people   (Numbers 14:19)

1. The guilty

a) Those who have seen
i) The glory of the Lord
ii) His signs in Egypt   (Numbers 14:22)
b) They had put God to the test these ten times   (Numbers 14:22)
c) They have not heeded God’s voice   (Numbers 14:22)
d) They had rejected God   (Numbers 14:23)

2. Pronouncement of Punishment

They shall not see the Promised Land   (Numbers 14:23)

3. Caleb singled out for special mention

a) He has a different spirit (a good one)   (Numbers 14:24)
b) He is called “My servant Caleb”   (Numbers 14:24)
c) He has followed the Lord fully   (Numbers 14:24)
d) He will enter the land   (Numbers 14:24)
e) His descendants will inherit it   (Numbers 14:25)

4. Order to change direction

To go into the wilderness   (Numbers 14:25)
