WHEN JESUS CAME TO EARTH

1. He came as the Son of Man   (John 12:32)

2. He was rightly acclaimed as the King   (John 12:13-15)

NOT ALL FULLY UNDERSTOOD HIM

1. The multitudes acclaimed Him as the Messiah-King   (John 12:12-15)

2. The disciples did not fully comprehend His triumphal entry   (John 12:16)

3. Many did not believe in Him   (John 12:37-40)

THE PURPOSE OF JESUS COMING TO EARTH

1. He had come as the Son of Man   (John 12:34)

2. He had come as the Light   (John 12:35-36)

3. He had come to die for the sins of mankind   (John 12:33)

4. He had come to deal a death blow to the ruler of this world   (John 12:31)

THE DIFFICULTY OF FACING DEATH

1. The soul is troubled   (John 12:27)

2. Yet the purpose was clear   (John 12:27)

3. Praying to God the Father   (John 12:27)

THE STRENGTHENING OF THE SOUL

1. The parable of the grain of wheat   (John 12:23-28)

a) The seed must die
b) Only then would it bear fruit significantly

2. A special prayer

a) To fulfil His life’s purpose   (John 12:27)
b) To glorify God’s name   (John 12:27-28)
c) To draw people to Himself   (John 12:32)

3. God’s confirming word

a) God all along had glorified His Son   (John 12:28)

b) He made His voice heard

c) He will indeed glorify Christ Jesus   (John 12:28)
