“The North and The South You Have Created Them”

This was a picture I took when I was in Augusta, Australia, some years ago. This wind vane was situated next to a lighthouse that I was visiting. It basically tells the direction that the wind is coming from. In this picture, the wind is coming from the west. Who was the One who came up with the cardinal points of the earth? It was God who created them. The magnetic field of the earth is approximately aligned with its axis of rotation, according to Wikipedia. A magnetic compass uses this field to determine the cardinal directions. In ancient times, the people would use the sun and the stars to find their sense of direction. It is truly wonderful to know that the Lord created these cardinal points.
The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours, the world and all its fullness You have founded them. The north and the south, you have created them; Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Your name.” Psalm 89:11-12
It was God who created the heavens and the earth. They belong to Him. The Lord founded the world and all that is in it, including these cardinal points. Mount Tabor is situated in lower part of the region of Galilee and Mount Hermon is the highest point in the North. All within the land from Mount Tabor to Mount Hermon would rejoice in the Lord’s name. God has ownership over the whole earth and the land of Israel. The Lord’s powerful hand that created the heavens, the earth and all on it will also established His covenant to the people of Israel. There is no one like the Lord God of hosts. He is faithful in all His ways.
“BLESSED ARE THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW THE JOYFUL SOUND”
Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your countenance. In Your name they rejoice all day long.” Psalm 89:15
When God relates to His people, He would be merciful to them. He would establish His faithfulness to the very heavens. His blessings would be on His people. They would walk in the favour of the Lord and He would be the glory of their strength. The Lord would be their shield and protector. They would find a great sense of joy in the Lord’s name. There would be exuberant shouts of joy and many people would hear them. Truly, blessed are these people who have the Lord as their God. Even as the Lord had established the earth, its cardinal points and the land of Israel, so His mercies and faithfulness will be established forever. Even as Israel belongs to God, so His blessings would be upon His people as long as they follow His ways. Let’s truly exercise faith in the Lord’s wonderful mercy, faithfulness and blessings on us. Let’s rejoice in His name.
