Ephesians
Day
Day 205

"But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift."

Text: Ephesians 4:7

GRACE FROM GOD

The theme of grace is well discussed in Paul’s epistle to the Ephesians. Let us take time to consider the way in which Paul employed this word.

1. The nature of grace is to be deeply appreciated

To the praise of the glory of His grace…
EPHESIANS 1:6

2. Our redemption is possible only through the richness of His grace

In Him we have redemption through His blood,
the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
EPHESIANS 1:7

For by grace you have been saved through faith,
and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.
EPHESIANS 2:8

3. Grace for ministry as an apostle

If indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God
which was given to me for you.
EPHESIANS 3:2

Of which I became a minister according to the gift
of the grace of God given to me by the effective
working of His power.
To me, who am less than the least of all the saints,
this grace was given, that I should preach among the
Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.
EPHESIANS 3:7-8

4. Grace for ministry according to the measure meted out by the Lord

But to each one of us grace was given
according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
EPHESIANS 4:7

a) The measure of Christ’s gift

The sovereignty of Christ is to be appreciated here. As much as salvation is by the grace of God, so is the kind of ministry that we have been given.

b) Differences in measures of grace to be expected

It is a most humbling thought that our capacity to serve, even our giftedness is limited to the sovereign grace of Christ.

c) Every believer has been given some measure of grace to serve

Though our gifts may differ, everyone has been given some measure of grace to serve the Lord. No genuine child of God is without the grace to serve the Lord!
