Text: Exodus 7

 

1. Revelation of God’s Plan (Will)

a) Role of Moses – “As God” (representing God)              Exodus 7:1a

b) Role of Aaron – “Your prophet” (spokesman)              Exodus 7:1b

c) Communication of God’s command to Pharaoh  to release Israel              Exodus 7:2

d) God will harden Pharaoh’s heart              Exodus 7:3a

e) He will multiply His signs and wonders in Egypt              Exodus 7:3b

f) Pharaoh will not heed Moses              Exodus 7:4a

g) God will use this struggle to bring out specific goals

i) He will lay His hand on Egypt              Exodus 7:4a

ii) He will bring out Israel – “My armies and My people”                  Exodus 7:4b

iii) Great judgments would be meted out against Egypt              Exodus 7:4c

h) God’s goals

i) The Egyptians will know that He is indeed The LORD              Exodus 7:5a

j) They will have to acknowledge the Lord when He takes Israel out of Egypt              Exodus 7:5b

2. Good and Positive Indication

Then Moses and Aaron did so; just as the LORD commanded them, so they did.              Exodus 7:6

a) Comprehension

b) New-found trust

c) Lesson on appropriate response – full obedience

3. Significance

Praying in the light of the following:-

a) Recognition that God had a plan

b) Understanding that God Himself would see to the full realization of the Divine Goals revealed

c) Waiting upon the Lord

d) Obedience to the Lord

e) Developing a new understanding of praying and serving God

i) Patience

ii) Time (God’s time)

iii) Perseverance

iv) Expectation of resistance

v) Greater awareness of the Presence of God and His involvement
