A REQUEST TO SEE THE GLORY OF GOD

1. A Request to see the glory of God was made by Moses

“Please show me Your glory”   Exodus 33:18

2. The Reply of the Lord

“You cannot see My face, for no man shall see Me and live”   Exodus 33:20

3. A Special provision

“Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock,
So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by.
Then I will take away My hand and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen.”   Exodus 33:21-23

4. Significance of seeing the glory of God revealed

a) A sign of approval
b) A sign of special favour
c) A sign of great grace
d) A sign of special closeness to the Lord

THE STATE OF ISRAEL IN THE DAYS OF ISAIAH

1. Rebellious   (Isaiah 1:2)

2. Ignorant   (Isaiah 1:3)

3. Sinful   (Isaiah 1:4)

4. Laden with iniquity   (Isaiah 1:4)

5. No longer faithful   (Isaiah 1:21)

6. Corrupt   (Isaiah 1:23)

A GREAT NEED

1. To be cleansed   (Isaiah 1:18)

2. To be redeemed   (Isaiah 1:27)

3. Το be restored   (Isaiah 1:26)

A VISION OF THE MILLENNIAL KINGDOM

1. The mountain of the Lord’s House shall be established   (Isaiah 2:2)

2. Many will desire to learn from the Lord   (Isaiah 2:3)

3. The word of the Lord will be proclaimed in Jerusalem   (Isaiah 2:3)

THE MAJESTY OF THE LORD WILL BE REVEALED

1. Three times the majesty of the LORD was mentioned   (Isaiah 2:10, 19, 21)

2. Man needs to be safely hidden when that Glory is revealed   (Isaiah 2: 10, 19, 21)

3. This is related to “the Day of the LORD”   (Isaiah 2:12)

a) Day of judgment of the arrogant   (Isaiah 2:12-17)
b) Judgment of all who forsake God in favour of idols   (Isaiah 2:18, 20)

A SPECIAL CHALLENGE

1. To deepen our understanding of the greatness of the Lord

2. To learn how to stand in awe of the majesty o the Lord

3. To appreciate God as Moses did   (Exodus 32-34)
