"Therefore I have set My face like a flint..."
Text: Isaiah 50:7
BEGINNING EACH DAY WITH GOD
The Lord Jesus Christ began each day with the Lord (Mark 1:35). His example must inspire us to emulate Him. It may not be easy initially, but in the long run, if we persevere we can succeed.
MOTIVATION
The Lord Jesus was obviously highly motivated. What were some of the things that moved Him?
1. Calling
He had a great sense of Calling.
a) The LORD God had called Him.
b) He would hear and seek to fulfil that calling.
2. Destiny
With that sense of Calling, He had a great sense of Destiny as well.
a) As the Messiah
b) As the Saviour
c) As the Teacher
d) As the Lord
3. Relationship
a) He was God’s beloved Son.
b) He was the destined Messiah-Servant who must fulfil all righteousness.
c) He would do all He needed to bring glory to His Father.
4. Purpose
a) He had a great sense of purpose.
b) He determined He would fulfil His Father’s purpose and will.
c) He would bring about a New Covenant.
d) He would become the Saviour of the world.
5. The cost
a) It would involve sacrifice.
b) It would entail suffering.
c) It would mean yielding to God’s will completely.
d) It would mean total self-denial.
The Lord Jesus Christ is truly deserving of our worship for all that He has done for the sake of mankind!
