THE DEATH OF NADAB AND ABIHU

1. Offering profane fire

2. Divine fire killed them   (Leviticus 10:1-2)

LESSONS LEARNED

1. For the Aaronic priesthood

a) Those who come near Me
b) The LORD must be regarded as holy
c) They must seek to glorify the LORD always   (Leviticus 10:3)

2. Moses addresses the Aaronic family

a) Priestly family called
b) They were to carry out the dead out of the camp
c) Nadab and Abihu were carried out by their tunics   (Leviticus 10:3-4)

3. A Solemn word of Admonition

a) To Aaron and the remaining sons
b) They are not to mourn the loss of Nadab and Abihu
c) But the rest of the children of Israel may   (Leviticus 10:5-7)

SPECIAL WORD OF ADMONITION TO THE PRIESTS

1. They are not to drink when they were in service   (Leviticus 10:8-9)

2. They are to be sober and alert at all times   (Leviticus 10:9-11)

SPECIAL OFFERINGS BY THE REMAINING PRIESTS

1. Special instruction to Eleazar and Ithamar

2. But they did not fully comply

3. Moses carefully checked on their work   (Leviticus 10:12-18)

4. Failure to comply put them in danger   (Leviticus 10:12-18)

THE WORDS OF AAROT

1. Moses reprimands the priests

2. Aaron explains

a) The family was in grief
b) Pleaded for more understanding

3. Moses relents   (Leviticus 10:19-20)
