Introduction:

How should we pray amidst a world where the wicked seems to prevail?

A. PONDERING THE PROBLEM OF EVIL IN THE WORLD

1. The wicked persecutes the poor   (Psalm 10:2)

2. The wicked boasts of his heart’s desire   (Psalm 10:3)

3. He blesses the greedy and renounces the LORD   (Psalm 10:3)

4. The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God   (Psalm 10:4)

5. God is in none of his thoughts   (Psalm 10:4)

6. The ways of the wicked prosper   (Psalm 10:5)

7. He sneers at his enemies   (Psalm 10:5)

8. He says, “I shall not be moved; I shall never be in adversity”   (Psalm 10:6)

9. His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression   (Psalm 10:7)

10. Under his tongue is trouble and iniquity   (Psalm 10:7)

11. In the secret place he murders the innocent   (Psalm 10:8)

12. His eyes are secretly fixed on the helpless   (Psalm 10:8)

13. He lies in wait to catch the poor   (Psalm 10:9)

14. He has said, “God has forgotten; He hides His face; He will never see”   (Psalm 10:11)

B. PONDERING THE PRAYER OF IMPRECATION

1. The desperate prayer of

a) The helpless   (Psalm 10:14)
b) The fatherless   (Psalm 10:14)
c) The humble   (Psalm 10:17)
d) The oppressed   (Psalm 10:18)

2. The essence of the imprecatory prayer

a) “Break the arm of the wicked”   (Psalm 10:15)
b) “Seek out his wickedness until you find none”   (Psalm 10:15)
c) That the man of earth may oppress no more   (Psalm 10:18)

C. PRAYING TO GOD IN FAITH

1. When He seems to stand afar off   (Psalm 10:1)

2. When He seems to hide Himself   (Psalm 10:1)

3. But the LORD is King forever and ever   (Psalm 10:16)

4. He hears prayer   (Psalm 10:17)

5. He will uphold justice
