Filled with the Holy Spirit
"Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high..."
Text: Isaiah 32:15
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD IN LIFE
We have a cryptic text that needs to be read carefully. Let us ponder this text.
“Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high,
And the wilderness becomes a fruitful field,
And the fruitful field is counted as a forest.”
Isaiah 32:15
1. “Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high”
a) This highlights the significance of the role of the Spirit of God.
b) When He anoints the leaders of the land (prophet, priest and king) great blessings would ensue.
2. The wilderness becomes a fruitful field.
3. The fruitful field is counted as a forest!
A FURTHER DESCRIPTION OF HOW THE NATION WOULD BE BLESSED
A FURTHER DESCRIPTION OF HOW THE NATION WOULD BE BLESSED
The following text describes how the nation would be blessed when the land continues to have Spirit-filled leadership!
1. “A king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule with justice.” Isaiah 32:1
2. “A man will be as a hiding place from the wind, and a cover from the tempest,
as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.” Isaiah 32:2
3. “The eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will listen.” Isaiah 32:3
4. “Also the heart of the rash will understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.” Isaiah 32:4
5. “Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.” Isaiah 32:16
6. “The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.” Isaiah 32:17
7. “My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.” Isaiah 32:18
8. “Blessed are you who sow beside all waters, who send out freely the feet of the ox and the donkey.” Isaiah 32:20
BUT WHERE THE LAND DOES NOT HAVE SPIRIT-FILLED LEADERS
The following text reveals the tragic consequences of a land that does not have godly, Spirit-filled leaders!
1. “On the land of my people will come up thorns and briers…” Isaiah 32:13
2. “The palaces will be forsaken…” Isaiah 32:14
3. “The bustling city will be deserted…” Isaiah 32:14
4. “The forts and towers will become lairs forever…” Isaiah 32:14
Let us pray much that we would be filled with the glorious Holy Spirit of the LORD.
