The Creator God
After trudging through dense forests and knee-deep snow, this was a rare peace and quiet to be savoured almost 3,000m above sea level.
Apart from the cold, exhaustion and aches, I remember feeling so small amidst this vast mountain range that surrounded me. The words of Isaiah 40:12,18 soon came to mind:
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand,
Measured heaven with a span
And calculated the dust of the earth in a measure?
Weighed the mountains in scales
And the hills in a balance?
To whom then will you liken God?
Or what likeness will you compare to Him?”
I often find myself unnecessarily caught up and overwhelmed by my present circumstances, but it’s comforting and liberating to know that I have a Creator God who made the Heavens and the earth- He is so much greater and mightier than any earthly thing. Despite how vast and grand this mountain range is, it’s merely another small item to be measured on a scale from God’s perspective.
As Isaiah pointed out in the same chapter, He is not a god made with hands from parts of a tree, but a living, powerful and incomparable God who is sovereign over all creation, including myself.
In response, I’m challenged to continuously place my faith in this Creator God each day instead of my own abilities and strength, for there is none mightier!
