#3 Searching for the wrong things

1. The Scribes and the Pharisees

a) The scribes represented the religious scholars

b) The Pharisees represented the righteous

c) Sometimes they are called “The Jews”           John 10:31

2. Their “request” (“wish”)

a) They may have mastered the art of polite speaking

b) But behind their polite words they were “demanding” a sign from the Lord Jesus

3. But were there not signs already given?

a) The beginning of signs                                      John 2:11

b) Signs acknowledged by Nicodemus             John 3:2

c) Many signs                                                             John 20:30

4. Note what the Apostle Paul wrote

a) The Jews seek a sign

b) The Greeks seek after wisdom                     1 Corinthians 1:22
